KORNATI NATIONAL PARK

For the transparency of the water, for the beauty of the white and indented coasts and for the abundance of seascape flora and fauna, the Kornati Islands are one of the most visited destinations of those who love the sea.
In particular, they are well appreciated by sailing and diving lovers. For those people we recommend Rasip Island standing in the south-western part of the archipelago. Along Rasip's coasts you can admire not only impressive corals and sponges but also several species of fish, among which sea urchins, rock fishes and tunas.

BRAC

by ferry-boat, 1 hour from Split
Brac is the widest Dalmatian island and is worthy a visit in particular to spend some pleasant time on the whitest Bol beach, which spreads from a thick pinewood to a crystalline sea. During Summer there are also fast ships leaving from Split straight to Bol (ferry-boats land in Supetar), but we recommend to bring the car with you in order to visit also the center of the island, characterized by hills, very pictoresque small villages and several quarries from which the white stone, typical of this place, is mined. Apart from Bol beach, which by the way is very much attended by a lot of people, the island offers to tourists several small coves to rest and have a bath in very clear waters.
Brac is recommended in particular to those who like windsurfing; on the island there are many schools where it is possible to rent the necessary equipment or to attend also one-day lessons.

VIS

by ferry-boat, 2 hours from Split
Vis is undoubedtly one of the most beautiful Dalmatian islands also because it had been a military headquarters until 1989 while nowadays it still keeps its uncontaminated charm from the ancient times.
The island, today, is a national park with two inhabited towns (Viz and Komiza) facing on enchanting bays characterized by grottos and small coves of sand and pebbles. The internal of the island, on the contrary, is dotted by a wide pinewood which sorrounds two salted lakes; in the pinewood you can go all over paths on foot or by bike.
Once you have reached Vis, it is a must to visit the Blue Grotto on the nearby island of Bisevo: a bath in these crystalline waters is an unforgettable experience. In Viz and Komiza there are some agencies which, with still acceptable prices, organize tours to the grotto. For those who like art and history, we recommend Issa Museum, where amphoras and ruins from the Greek and Roman time are conserved. Vis is well-known by underwater divers too thanks to its very rich seascape fauna. Here immersions too are organized in order to visit a wreck of an Italian vessel sunk in 1866 during a battle fought between Austria and Italy.
